English Victorian Pine Housekeeper's Cupboard w/ Barley Twist Columns | Circa 1880
Warm honey pine, bold barley twist columns, and hand-blown glass combine to make this English Victorian bookcase cabinet a striking storage piece. The glazed upper cabinet features two fixed shelves, while the lower dresser portion provides two short drawers over three graduated long drawers, offering generous concealed storage below.
Retaining its original finish with decades of honest wear, this piece has the kind of character that only develops through generations of use. Beautiful proportions and substantial scale make it equally practical as a bookcase, china cabinet, or display cupboard.
The piece separates into two for moving ease, and the base drawer pulls out fully, trim included (see photos).
Dimensions:
51”W × 20”D × 91”H
Displays beautifully with expected wear consistent with age, including surface scratches, scuffs, finish loss, and scattered marks throughout. Both sides of the cornice appear to be missing (cornice front remains in tact). The top shows heavier wear from years of use. The glass is intact, drawers operate well, and the cabinet remains structurally sound with a warm, richly patinated finish.
