This is the Chuffed Story

A story sparked by imagination, fueled by a love for cool, old things, and driven in pursuit of a life beyond the status quo.

  • It started in Arizona with a girl who grew up rearranging her family’s living room furniture, painting the walls in her bedroom on her own as a pre-teen (ruining her father’s brushes in process…whoops), and spending Sundays touring open houses.

  • And speaking of open houses, there were SO MANY in the Valley of the Sun...tile roofs to infinity, stucco walls in seventeen colors of beige (on repeat). Little boxes, and they all looked just the same. Everything was fresh…a metropolis expanding on the desire for everything new, cheap and fast. She knew nothing else.

  • Until she traveled. And moved to Los Angeles, Denver and, now Toledo. Still all relatively “new” cities, but more nods to history and a lot more character. The world started to open, and she was in love.

  • And that first spark of what was to come? Likely the first antique purchase she made…a dresser from France. The lines, the detail, it was all so beautiful and unique. It’s traveled with her for every move since.

  • That girl, she grew up. She probably should’ve been an interior designer. Or something artistic. But instead she sustained a few corporate jobs and found creativity through the written word. And then, to shake things up a bit, she even opened and ran two fitness studios.

  • In the meantime, she leaned into the renovation of her all-brick 1936 manor on Meadowwood Drive in perhaps the most English-inspired neighborhood in all of Ohio. It’s still a slow-design work-in-progress, and maybe, just maybe, that girl-turned-woman will have her home ready to celebrate its 100th birthday, when it will officially become antique in its own right.

  • So, in early 2025, with more to accomplish and following a tug on her heart to do something that would disrupt the status quo, she launched Chuffed, a vintage and antiques homegoods movement. A lifestyle. A way of slowly designing homes that recognizes old > everything.

  • Several times a year, she travels to Europe and searches through countryside barns and secret stashes to collect the old and the cool. She brings home only the pieces that carry exquisite style and exceptional character, the pieces that homes need to feel cozy, curated and loved.

  • (Oh, and for the record…it appears her hometown of Phoenix has, too, taken a similar growth journey. Phoenix should most definitely be credited for its wonderfully unique contributions to Mid Century design and architecture. It’s just that through the eyes of an 80s child, they weren’t as celebrated then as they are today.)

  • And, so, the Chuffed Story pauses here for now, but really it’s not an ending, but a bridge to another exciting chapter.

Meet Mo, owner of Chuffed Home.

Mo is a traveler, adventure seeker and a little bit of a rebel. She likes to make things. She’s a perfectionist, and a creative. She also really likes mirror selfies.

And, most significantly: she loves cool, old things. Always has. She cares deeply about being a part of the slow-design movement that values character and quality over mass-produced nonsense.
