The reverse retains period biographical material identifying Brown as a Sunderland-born genre and landscape painter, caricaturist and illustrator who exhibited with the Bewick Club in Newcastle and at the Artists of the Northern Counties exhibitions at the Laing Art Gallery. The accompanying material also notes that his work is represented at Sunderland Art Gallery.
